Jessie Taylor is a 24-year-old mixed media artist and muralist originally from Long Island, New York. She moved to Tampa in 2018 to pursue her BFA in Studio Art at the University of Tampa. From day one, she went after every opportunity to grow, learn, and share her work. While earning her degree, Jessie participated in the Gasparilla Festival of the Arts, was featured on WFLA News, and interned with BB Art. That internship led to collaborations with Porsche Tampa, the Tampa Bay Lightning arena, and several local businesses across the city. Just one semester before graduating in May 2023, she accepted a full-time role as a display artist with Anthropologie. Balancing a full-time art job while finishing school pushed her limits and shaped her into the artist she is today. After graduating, Jessie joined a Tampa-based art brokerage where she gained hands-on experience in gallery curation, art marketing, and community-building, all while continuing to create and evolve her own body of work. Her art focuses on pushing the boundaries of traditional painting by using accessible, everyday materials like house paint, recycled fabrics, and paper collage. Her pieces often reflect the lessons she has learned throughout her creative journey, centered around taking risks, following your dreams, and going against the grain. Most recently, Jessie took a leap of faith and moved back to New York, bringing everything she learned in Tampa with her. As she enters the NYC art scene, her mission remains the same: to create bold, meaningful work that invites others to see beauty in the unexpected.
